Helping others find clarity to improve their quality of life is what I love about my job and is what motivated the creation of this practice.

“You are not your symptoms” is a phrase that very much resonates with my outlook on therapy practice and on people in all areas of life. This way of thinking has greatly influenced my own practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

The main modality which shapes my work with clients is Dr. Richard Schwartz’s IFS (Internal Family Systems) model. I truly believe in the concept that “all parts are welcome” and when we come to a place of compassion for even the parts of us which seem most difficult to embrace, healing can occur, and this experience is what helps us be the best version of ourselves.

You will find yourself living with more confidence because of our work together.

More About What To Expect From Sessions With Me...

Virtual & In-Person Sessions Are Available.

My style is non-judgmental and down to earth, keeping your wellness my number one priority.  I work from an integrative perspective and carefully tailor the therapy to each client’s needs. I also offer sessions in English or Spanish and can facilitate the therapy process through the context of family or individual therapy. If indicated, I may also facilitate a hybrid of individual and family sessions.

More About Working With Me...

Individual Therapy

I strive to create an environment where you feel supported, safe, and validated, in order to address any issue on which you choose to focus. Any topic can be addressed during our sessions. I may sometimes gently challenge a thought or behavior which you share but, of course, with the intention of helping you feel more confident and clearer. It is your time, and you are the number one priority during our work together in individual therapy.

Family & Couples Therapy

Within family therapy, I help each family member show up for loved ones from an open and compassionate place so that they can listen attentively and be understood deeply by family members. When this connection takes place, we then explore new patterns of interaction so that your family members can feel safe, seen, and understood, even after they leave the therapy room. I generally work from an EFT lense while facilitating family sessions.

What My Clients Are Saying...

" Access to therapy and the right therapist is priceless! Having someone that really cares and has the experience to guide and help you is key. Shira was that person to me and I will always cherish and appreciate the sessions we had together."

"From the first time I met her, I knew she was good at what she does. I've worked with many therapists over the years and Shira is by far my favorite. Her therapy style is effective and she really cares. She's had a huge impact on me, and I know she'd never take the credit for it but my life is better because of her."

- G.C.

"Shira takes the time to teach you valuable tools to help you learn more about yourself. She is kind, patient, and supportive and helps me connect, understand, and accept my feelings."

Some More About My Training and Experiences...

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate from Rutgers University School of Social Work. I also served as the director of Project SARAH, a NJ statewide program servicing those affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse.

I also introduce IFS to other therapists and offer consultations to help them integrate this modality when working with clients.
